Leo Tolstoi

It’s anybody’s guess how long facebook will be around. Facebook members frequently swear it off because of the political back-and-forth that goes on. Perhaps they get tired of the fussing. On the other hand, we have always been drawn to disputes that grow into verbal brawls and permanent divisions between people. Facebook is nothing new.

In this little parable, Tolstoi portrays the same sort of carrying on in a coffee house of the nineteenth century. The great man encourages us to embrace the feud and to beware of the flaw that entraps us and prevents us from benefitting from disagreement.
